Organized under authority of the Secretary of War at Fort Snelling, Minn., and mustered in October 5, 1861. Moved to Washington, D.C., October 6-10, 1861, and reported to Col. Berdan, at Camp of Instruction. Assigned as Company "A," 2nd United States Sharpshooters, February 10, 1862 (See 1st U.S. Sharpshooters).
