Unit History
Organized probably by the consolidation of the 3rd Cavalry Battalion, the 3rd Cavalry Battalion, State Troops, and the 2nd Cavalry Battalion, State Troops in the spring of 1864.
Consolidated with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, State Troops and Ham's Cavalry Regiment and designated as Ashcraft's, Ham's, and Lowry's Cavalry Regiment Consolidated on March 20, 1865.
