Forrest's Cavalry Regiment, also known as the 4th Alabama Cavalry Regiment, was organized with Julian's Cavalry Battalion as a nucleus on the 1st of June 1863. It was broken up on 11 July 1864 when four Tennessee companies were transferred to the 18th Tennessee Cavalry Regiment; four Alabama companies transferred to Warren's Cavalry Battalion; and one Alabama Company transferred to Moreland's Cavalry Battalion (Fancher's Company, subsequently Co. "E", Moreland's Regiment).
